In short
Aluminium venetian blinds use slim metal slats — usually 25mm — that tilt to steer light precisely. They are unaffected by humidity, wipe clean in seconds and take up almost no depth, which makes them the default choice for kitchens, bathrooms and offices across the UAE.
What slat width should I choose?
25mm for most windows — it gives fine control and a neat stack. 16mm suits very small windows and glazed door panels. 50mm reads closer to a wooden venetian and suits larger rooms where you want a softer line.
Do they get hot in direct sun?
Metal does warm up, but a light or reflective finish bounces most of the radiation straight back out. On a west-facing Dubai window a white or metallic slat performs noticeably better than a dark one, which absorbs and re-radiates heat inward.
Are they noisy?
They can rattle in a draught if the bottom rail is not secured. On balcony doors and anywhere with airflow we fit hold-down brackets as standard, which removes it entirely.

Yes — they are one of the few window treatments genuinely unaffected by steam and humidity. They will not warp, swell or grow mould the way timber or fabric can.
Close the slats and wipe with a damp cloth, then reverse and repeat. That is the whole job. A duster with the slats open handles routine Dubai dust.
Individual slats can be replaced, though it is fiddly. If several are damaged it is usually more economical to replace the blind.
Up to about 3 metres in a single blind. Beyond that the headrail deflects and the blind becomes heavy to raise — we split it across the window instead.
We fit chain safety devices as standard and recommend cordless operation in any room a child uses.
Yes. Motors can drive the tilt, the lift, or both. On a tall or hard-to-reach window it is a worthwhile upgrade.
