In short
Chiffon is the lightest of the sheer fabrics — a fine, slightly matte weave that floats rather than hangs. It diffuses harsh Gulf sun into soft light and moves with the slightest air, which is why it suits balcony doors and rooms where you want the window to feel alive rather than covered.
How is chiffon different from ordinary voile?
Chiffon is lighter and has a subtle crepe texture, so it catches light unevenly and looks softer. Voile is flatter and slightly more opaque. Chiffon drapes in finer folds; voile holds a more structured shape.
How much fullness does chiffon need?
Three times the track width, minimum. Chiffon has almost no weight of its own, so fullness is the only thing that creates the folds it is chosen for. A flat chiffon curtain looks like a bedsheet at the window.
Does it survive Dubai sun?
Polyester chiffon does and holds colour for years. Silk chiffon is beautiful and will not — it yellows and weakens on a sun-facing elevation within a season or two. We specify polyester unless the window is genuinely shaded.

Questions
Chiffon Curtains, answered.
During daylight yes, because it is brighter outside than in. After dark with the lights on they give almost none. Pair them with a blackout or dim-out layer on a double track.
Most polyester chiffon can be washed cold on a delicate cycle and rehung slightly damp so the creases drop out. Never tumble dry it — the heat sets permanent wrinkles.
Wave or pencil pleat. Both hold regular, even folds in a fabric that has no body of its own. Eyelets need more weight than chiffon has and end up looking limp.
Yes, and it is the usual specification. Chiffon at the glass, blackout in front on a double track, so either layer runs independently.
Barely. It softens glare and direct sun but does not meaningfully cut solar heat gain. For heat you need a coated blackout lining or a technical sunscreen blind.
Off-white, sand and pale grey read as light rather than as fabric, which is usually the point. Strong colours tint the daylight entering the room, which can be lovely or can make a room feel odd — we bring samples to check against your light.
