In short
A triple pinch pleat gathers three folds into each hand-stitched pleat, giving deeper and more sculptural columns than a double. It needs more fabric and more drop to look right, which is why it suits villas, high ceilings and hotel work rather than standard apartment windows.
When is triple worth the extra fabric?
When the drop is over about 2.7 metres, or when the room is formal. Tall windows give the pleats room to fall into full columns. On a short drop the same heading reads as heavy and crowds the window.
How much fabric?
Two-and-a-half times the track width and upwards. That is roughly 25% more fabric than a double pleat, which is most of the price difference between the two.
Which fabrics suit it?
Medium to heavy weights — velvet, faux silk, heavy linen blends. The heading is designed to be carried by fabric with body. Light fabrics collapse between the pleats and lose the effect entirely.

Questions
Triple Pinch Pleat Curtains, answered.
Triple for tall, formal windows and heavier fabrics. Double for standard ceilings and a lighter, more contemporary line. We bring both headings made up so you can see them at your own window.
Yes — more fabric means a deeper stack. Allow extra track either side of the glass so the curtain clears the window when drawn back.
Yes. The weight is well within what a standard motor handles, and the deep pleats stack very evenly under power.
Yes, and with blackout lining it seals well. Just check the stack width — in a narrow bedroom the deeper stack can cover more glass than you want.
Dry clean only, same as any hand-stitched heading. Washing distorts the pleats permanently.
More fabric and more hand-finishing per pleat. The making is a larger share of the price than with a tape-gathered heading.
