In short
Wood venetian blinds use timber slats, usually 50mm, that tilt to control light. They bring warmth and grain that no metal or fabric blind matches, and they suit living rooms, studies and bedrooms — anywhere the window is a feature rather than a utility.
Real wood or faux wood?
Real timber is lighter, has genuine grain and looks better. Faux wood is a PVC composite that will not warp in humidity, so it belongs in bathrooms and kitchens. In a dry living room, choose real wood; near steam, choose faux.
Do they warp in Dubai humidity?
Real timber can, in a bathroom or an unconditioned room. In normal air-conditioned interiors it is stable. The failure we see most is timber fitted in a wet room, where the slats bow within a year.
How much light do they block when closed?
Closed slats block most direct light but leave fine lines where the slats meet and where the lift cords pass through. For a bedroom that must be truly dark, pair them with a curtain rather than relying on the blind alone.

Questions
Wood Venetian Blinds, answered.
Use faux wood, not real timber. Steam swells and bows genuine wood slats. Faux wood looks nearly identical and is completely unaffected.
Timber is heavy. Above about 2.4 metres a single blind becomes hard to raise, so we split the window or motorise it.
Dust with a soft brush or vacuum brush head. Do not use water on real timber — it marks and can lift the finish.
Timber lightens in strong direct sun over years, more noticeably on dark stains. A UV-cured finish slows it considerably.
Yes, and on wide timber blinds it is often the practical answer rather than a luxury, given the weight.
Decorative fabric tapes cover the lift cord holes and add a traditional finish. They also block a little more of the light that leaks through those holes.
