What makes a blind child safe?
No accessible looped cord. That means a cordless spring mechanism, a wand, or a motor. Where a chain is unavoidable it must be tensioned to the wall so it cannot form a loop. We will not leave a loose chain in a child’s room.
How dark should the room be?
Dark enough for a daytime nap, which means blackout fabric plus something to handle the edges. Side channels or an outside-recess fit stop the light spill that otherwise frames the blind and wakes a child early.
Should I choose a themed print?
A printed blind is the cheapest place in the room to put a theme, and the easiest to change later. Keep the expensive elements plain and let the blind carry the character they will grow out of.
