In short
A living room has to work in daylight and after dark, which is why the standard specification here is two layers on one double track: a sheer at the glass for daytime light and privacy, and a heavier curtain in front to close the room down in the evening.
Why layer instead of choosing one?
Because the two requirements conflict. A single curtain either blocks the view all day or gives no privacy at night. A double track lets you run either layer independently in one movement, which is why most Dubai living rooms end up this way.
How do I handle floor-to-ceiling glass?
Fix the track to the ceiling rather than the wall, and run it wall to wall rather than just past the glass. Full-height apartment glazing looks best treated as a whole elevation — stopping the track at the frame draws attention to the frame.
Does it help with heat and glare?
Substantially, on a west-facing window. A coated lining reflects solar gain before it enters the room, and the sheer layer takes the edge off glare on screens during the day without darkening the space.

Questions
Living Room Curtains, answered.
If you want sheers and curtains, yes. Retrofitting a second track later means re-drilling and often re-decorating, so it is worth deciding at the measurement visit.
As close to the ceiling as the structure allows. It makes the room read taller and improves the drape, and on apartment glazing it is usually the ceiling anyway.
Wave for contemporary rooms and full-height glass; double pinch pleat where the room is more formal. Both stack cleanly off the glass.
Yes, and living rooms are where it earns its keep — wide runs are heavy to pull by hand, and a scene that closes both layers at dusk gets used daily.
We set the stack so it clears the door completely, and specify which side it gathers to based on how you actually use the door.
Two to two-and-a-half times the track width for the curtain, and up to three times for the sheer. Sheers need more because they have no weight of their own.
