In short
Honeycomb blinds — also called cellular or pleated blinds — are made from fabric folded into hexagonal cells that trap a layer of still air against the glass. That trapped air is genuine insulation, which makes them the best-performing blind available for heat in a Dubai summer.
How much heat do they actually stop?
More than any other blind type. The trapped air in the cells resists heat transfer the way double glazing does, so the room behind stays measurably cooler and the air conditioning cycles less often through the afternoon.
What is a top-down bottom-up honeycomb?
A version that can be lowered from the top as well as raised from the bottom. It lets you bring daylight in over the top of the blind while keeping the lower half closed for privacy — useful in ground-floor rooms overlooked from the street.
Single cell or double cell?
Double cell has two layers of cells and insulates better, at slightly more depth and cost. For a west-facing window in Dubai the double cell is worth it; on a shaded elevation single cell is enough.

Questions
Honeycomb Blinds, answered.
They reduce heat gain through the glass measurably, which reduces how hard the AC works. The saving depends on your glazing and orientation, but on west-facing glass it is the most effective blind we fit.
Yes — a blackout cellular fabric blocks light as well as insulating. With side channels it gets very close to complete darkness.
Vacuum gently with a brush head. Do not use water — it collapses the cells and they do not recover their shape.
Cordless and motorised versions are both available, and we recommend one or the other in any room a child uses.
Very little — the cells concertina tightly, so the stack is smaller than a roman blind of the same drop.
Up to about 3 metres. Beyond that the fabric weight makes operation heavy, so we split the run or motorise.
